First Aid When Experiencing Vertigo Headaches

When experiencing vertigo attacks, a person will feel tremendous headache to the world seems to spin dizzy alias. Before you get immediate medical assistance, there are some first aid you can do at home.

Vertigo or loss of balance will greatly interfere with daily activities, although not cause pain in other body organs.

When a relapse, patients with vertigo would have trouble standing up and moving because it felt incredible headache to the world seems spinning, even often accompanied by nausea and vomiting.



"The most danger of an attack of vertigo is falling. If the attack comes on suddenly while climbing stairs can fall right person. So if anyone attacks you should immediately sit down, take a safe position," explained Prof. dr. Jenny Bashiruddin, Sp.THT (K), PhD, Professor of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology Faculty of medicine RSCM, in Seminar on Vertigo "Re-Balance Your Life" in RS Asri, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/26/2011).

Give Warm Sweet Drinks

In addition dizzy, continued Prof. Jenny, people who experience vertigo attacks usually too cold sweat. For that, give warm sweet drinks can also help.

"If it came out in a cold sweat just love warm sweet tea. Take a break. If acute (severe attack which suddenly) may be given a sedative or anti-vomiting medications," explains Prof. Jenny who also practiced at the Clinic Hospital of Integrated Vertigo Asri.

But after getting first aid, it does not mean vertigo completely recovered. Vertigo symptoms can indeed be lost, but if left without a clear cause then sought vertigo can become worse.

"But after that (getting first aid) still have homework. It must be sought diagnosis and the exact cause," said Prof. Jenny.

Vertigo can be caused due to neurological disorders, internal medicine and otolaryngology (ear, nose, throat).

Some of the factors that cause vertigo include migraine attack, inflammation of the neck, motion sickness, bacterial infection of hearing and the lack of oxygen to the brain.

Abnormalities of the ear is also a frequent cause, including the abnormalities of vision or change in blood pressure that occurs suddenly, interference in the nerve connecting the ear to the brain as well as within his own brain.
