Description
Calcium acetate is used to treat excessive phosphate levels in the blood or hyperphosphatemia in patients with end-stage renal disease. Calcium acetate works by binding phosphate in the food you eat so removed from the body without being absorbed.
These drugs are only available by prescription in tablet and solution dosage forms.

Treating phosphate levels in the blood is too much for end-stage renal disease patients.
dose
For the solution dosage forms:
Adults: Initial dose is usually 10 ml with each meal. The dose is adjusted by the doctor depending on how high levels of phosphorus in the blood.
Children: Dose and usage should be determined by your doctor.
For tablet dosage forms:
Adults: 2 tablets 3 times daily with meals. The doctor may increase your dose if needed.
Children: the use and dose must be determined by your doctor.
