Children with the syndrome PDA wish just want to follow themselves. He will be in control so anyone who governed including parents will not want to be obeyed.
Unfortunately only a few people know about it. As a result of ignorance about this syndrome, many parents who feel frustrated and dizziness when his son did not want to obey his request. But experts believe that the number of patients that there are quite a lot but only a few are reported.
"There are so many children out there with a PDA that does not get help with the right," says psychologist Phil Christie, Director of Children's Services at the Elizabeth Newson Centre, as quoted from Dailymail, Wednesday (21/12/2011).
Christie said that about 1 in 100 children have autistic spectrum, but it is not known how many of this number of children who have a PDA. This is because there are many that have not been diagnosed.
PDA was first described by Elizabeth Newson in 1980 as pervasive developmental disorders (conduct disorder and function during development) are different from autism. But over time the condition is recognized as part of the autism spectrum.
The main difficulty for children with PDA is away from the daily demands made by others, because he will experience a high level of anxiety if you feel in control.
People with PDA tend to have social communication and interaction skills are better, so he often uses this ability to make a profit.
Most parents think this is an ordinary delinquency, whereas children with PDA have a need to continue to be in control and avoid the demands or requests of others.
For most children avoid phase requests from others will go away or begin to comply with the demand through strategies such as the existence award, sanctions, reasoning, praise for good behavior as well as pressure from peers.
But this technique will not work on children who have a PDA, it will still avoid the demands of others. Instead parents need to reduce child's anxiety by avoiding or disguising his demands on the child.
