The study, conducted by researchers from the University of Wisconsin to see the psychological impact of people who quit smoking and connecting it with the quality of life they have.
Researchers found that smokers generally have concerns about the decline in ability to cope with stress and negative effects, social exclusion, loss of pleasure and desire when he quit smoking.
The study, led by Dr. Megan Piper reveals that the results of this study could provide important additional information for smokers who are considering to stop these bad habits.
"Quitting smoking is hard, but if you managed to do so can improve your health and feel better overall, including no increase levels of stress," says Dr. Piper, as quoted from Dailymail, Friday (15/12/2011).
Also compared to smokers, people who quit smoking will have a more positive emotions and have fewer stress despite only entering the first year.
"Smokers may think stopping smoking would reduce life satisfaction or quality of life, because they believe it interferes with the routine that caused the loss of pleasure associated with smoking, so thought it would be more stressful if it stops," he said.
But the results of studies reported in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine actually found people who quit smoking will be happier and more satisfied with life than people who still smoke.
This study tested the control group and the placebo with smokers involving more than 1,500 men and women who were then asked to try and quit the habit.
