Indonesia's Men Wear Contracepcy Less than 5 Percent

Contraceptives synonymous with women than men. Until now carrying men in Indonesia who use contraception remains low at less than 5 percent.

"Currently men are still less than 5 percent, is expected in 2015 the number could rise to 5 percent. That we are grateful," said principal secretary Dr Sudibyo Alimoeso BKKBN, MA sidelines of the workshop and outbound journalists and BKKBN at Home Jambuluwuk, Tapos, Ciawi, West Java, on Wednesday (02/11/2011).

Sudibyo said that despite the suppression of peduduk not significant, but this percentage increased to eliminate the stigma that the family planning programs to prevent discrimination against women.

"The increasing number of men who use family planning, the more great because it shows the concern of men towards family planning," said Sudibyo.

Currently contraceptives available for men are condoms and vasectomy (surgery involving a small incision in the scrotal pouch and cutting the vas deferens or vas deferens), whereas for male birth control pill is still in testing stage.

"If there are birth control pills would be simpler, but it proved in the manufacture of birth control pills is not as simple as we thought. This pill should be safe and in the protocol must be approved by the BPOM," he said.

Birth control pills are an innovative in meeting the needs of contraception for men, currently in phase 3 trials and research is constantly being researched in order to secure the dose used in bulk. But there are already pharmaceutical companies interested in investing.
