Fitoesterogen or also called the content of isoflavones in soy beans that have properties like the hormone estrogen. Female sex hormone that protects against various types of cancer during still in childbearing age.
Thanks to the hormone estrogen, women are relatively protected from the risks of cancers including colon cancer. But after menopause and reduced estrogen production, the risk of colon cancer in women to be equal with men who are not a lot of lifetime estrogen production.
Just as estrogen naturally produced by the women infertile, fitoesterogen in soy is believed to also provide a protective effect against colon cancer. Therefore, soy foods like tofu and tempe widely recommended as a cancer-preventing superfood.
However, research conducted by scientists at Japan's National Cancer Center showed a protective effect against colon cancer is not as great as touted. Diligent than 85,000 participants who ate soy, 1,250 people remain taxable colon cancer over a period of about 15 years, as reported by HealthDay, Thursday (January 5, 2012).
Colon cancer and gastrointestinal tract in general is one type of cancer is very deadly. During the year 2011, the type of cancer is estimated to have infected 21,500 people in the United States and killed 10,500 people in between.
