People with a healthy diet by reducing the emphasis on eating meat products and vegetables and fish, has a 20 percent chance of living to age more, with an estimated 2 to 3 years.
The health benefits of diet is often called the Mediterranean diet has actually long been known, but recently scientists have studied the effects in the elderly by using a unique study to compare the diet and health of thousands of people aged 70 years.
The study, known as H70 is done for 40 years. The result, the practice of emphasis on eating a Mediterranean diet of vegetables and fish may be the secret to longevity.
"Parents who undergo the Mediterranean diet was estimated to be 2-3 years longer than those who do not live it," said Gianluca Tognon, scientists at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, as reported by Indiavision, Saturday (12/24/2011).
According Tognon, from this study can be concluded there is no doubt that the Mediterranean diet is associated with better health benefits, not only for parents, but also for young adults, adolescents and children.
The results of this study have been published in the journal Age.
