Job Stress affect Stroke Risk

News Health Articles - Job Stress affect Stroke Risk. It's time the work is considered as a fun activity because of stress at work can increase the risk of stroke. The results showed that the stress experienced by men in the workplace causes them 1.4 times more likely to experience a stroke.

"About 10 percent of strokes in this group may be due to job stress. The remainder related to other risk factors such as smoking, high blood pressure, and diabetes," the researchers said as quoted myhealthnewsdaily.com, Monday (12/19/2011).

The findings are based on data nearly 5,000 men aged 40-59 years living in Copenhagen, Denmark. Participants were surveyed in 1970 to 1971 and followed for 30 years, until 2001.

The men were given physical exams and were asked to answer questions about alcohol consumption, smoking habits and whether they received treatment for diabetes. Participants were not included in the study if a history of heart disease or heart attack.

Researchers gave the question, "Are you under psychological pressure when doing your job?" and participants will be answered with 'rarely' or 'regularly'.

During the study period, 779 men suffered a stroke and 167 people died. The participants were divided into five groups based on social class by means of the level of education and job position.

In an article published the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, researchers found no association between psychological stress at work on the two lowest classes only at a high social class alone.

Among the three men in the highest class, the risk of stroke increased 38 percent in men who experience stress in the workplace on a regular basis than men who claimed to rarely experience stress.

This risk is most striking in younger men, perhaps because people are exposed to stress due to work in a long time. Research participants old then retired shortly after the study began.

It is unclear why the relationship was only found in men in high social class. Perhaps the high-status jobs that the higher the pressure, because very few men in the lower classes who admitted experiencing work stress on a regular basis.

Don't be stress while working or stoke will come to you.
