Injection is one part of treatment or vaccination is also inevitable. However, some people sometimes try to avoid it for fear of needles.
Here are some things you can do to relieve the pain of needles, as quoted from Lifemojo, Monday (31/10/2011), namely:
1. Distracting to other activities
A person usually feels very anxious while waiting for an injection. For that divert attention by doing other activities like reading an entertaining book or listening to music.
2. Seeking attention in the room other than hypodermic needles
When in the room, focus the attention on each symbol, sign or picture in the room. Try to look in detail what is to be conveyed by the picture, how much interest there is or how facial expressions in the picture, thus preventing people think about the needles.
3. Take a deep breath in and do deep breathing exercises
Deep breathing exercises can help reduce stress and make the mind becomes more relaxed. When the mind is distracted and more relaxed, then the person will be more calm when injected to help reduce pain.
4. Try to cough
That study of 68 children at The University of Nebraska found that children who cough when experiencing pain fewer vaccinations. This is because the shape of interference and can provide temporary stimulate blood pressure that inhibits pain perception.
5. Avoid stiffness in the arm
Areas that get injections tend to feel more tense, causing greater pain. For that avoid stiffness in the arm to reduce the pain that appears.
But if someone is feeling dizzy when still in the waiting room or even unconscious when after the injection, then consult first with your doctor or nurse prior to injection.
