Why Light Can Affect Quality of Sleep?

News Health Articles  - Why Light Can Affect Quality of Sleep?. People are encouraged to sleep in a dark room conditions or dim and avoid bright light. Actually, how light can affect a person's sleep patterns?

Have a good night's sleep time is very important for the body and health. For that one must create an environment conducive to sleep, one by turning off the lights or just use a light dimmer. Although there are actually a few people can sleep in bright light environments.

Different things can affect the pattern or quality of sleep and circadian rhythms disrupt a person's body as well as light, as well as the environmental conditions of the bed room.

Circadian rhythms regulate the body's cycle of biochemical processes, physiological and chemical in the body. This rhythm is specifically controlled by the hypothalamus in the cerebellum which cells are responsible for circadian rhythms that are managed, and all the signals received by the retina to be transferred to the hypothalamus.

The retina has many light-sensitive cells, ie cells that sense light and send signals to the brain to give a clue whether it was daytime or late.

Existing lights in the room will emit light that is quickly absorbed by the light-sensitive cells in the retina. These cells will send signals to the brain and convey the message that it was still light or daylight, as quoted from Buzzle, Monday (05/12/2011).

It takes some time to normalize sleep cycles back in a state of balance. But if there is a continuous and prolonged exposure to light that the longer a person sleeps will be more delayed and keeps the body awake longer.

For that environment plays an important role in influencing the quality of one's sleep. Try turning off lights or use a dim light in the room and set temperatures are conducive (not hot but not too cold).

Good night's sleep is very important in maximizing a healthy mind and body. There are many adverse effects that can be obtained if a person does not sleep enough as it enhances the risk of some diseases and reduce productivity.
