A recent study found that quite surprising, researchers get a carrying heavy shopping bags that can increase stress levels. This is due to lifting heavy objects can affect mental health that makes one think of things serious or sad.

If the stress level increases, a person will have trouble in sleeping patterns, loss of appetite, difficulty concentrating and a more serious health effects including high blood pressure.

Researchers from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and National University of Singapore to analyze how the physical weight can increase stress levels by assessing the reaction of consumers who shop.

One group of participants holding a shopping bag full of stuff and then asked to give his opinion on a topic unrelated to shopping, while the other group was left holding nothing and asked the same topic.

The study results are reported in the Journal of Consumer Research supports previous research which shows heavy physically can affect a person's psychological burden.

"Physical experience that makes a person carrying a heavy load can affect the person's assessment of a case and one of them is the psychological burden of stress," said researcher Zhang Meng and Li Xiuping, as quoted from Dailymail, Wednesday (28/12/2011).

Perhaps the message from this research should not be too much shopping, because it brings a lot of shopping bags and weight can actually trigger stress. Shop that supposedly can make people happy and not stressed it is possible stress that a lot of if groceries.
