Description
Minoxidil is a drug called antihypertensives. This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If there is continued for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure can also increase the risk of heart attack.
Minoxidil works by relaxing blood vessels so blood vessels can pass through more easily. So it can help to lower blood pressure. Minoxidil has other effects that can be annoying to some patients. These include increased hair growth, weight loss, rapid heartbeat, and chest pain. This drug can only be obtained by prescription.
