"Quitting smoking is the single most important step that can be done to improve the health of smokers. Here are some tips that have been proven to help thousands of people quit smoking according to the American Lung Association, among others:
1. Choose a day that will stop smoking for several weeks and mark on the calendar
Try to pick a day to stop smoking when you're not under much pressure or stress.
2. Do a walking exercise every day
This will help boost energy and mood, and help prevent weight gain. Walking is an ideal way to reduce the stress of quitting smoking. Eat a balanced diet is also very necessary, drink lots of water, and getting enough sleep.
3. Ask for support from family, friends and coworkers, as well as to consider joining a smoking cessation program so it will be very helpful.
4. Select the type of care
Various types of treatments, such as prescription drugs and medications that are available on the market can be to help people stop smoking. Consult with your doctor or visit the American Lung Association.
Many smokers are dependent on the positive effects of nicotine such as improving mood, increasing short-term memory, and concentration. But there are many reasons to quit using tobacco.
By knowing the serious health risks may help motivate to quit smoking. When used in the long run, tobacco and related chemicals such as tar and nicotine can increase the risk of health problems.
Some health problems can be caused by smoking, among others:
