A new study finds alcohol will taste sweeter when people listen to loud music and noise is in the atmosphere, making it difficult to assess drinkers are how much alcohol is consumed.
"Humans have a distinct preference to a sweet taste, this finding explains why people consume more alcohol in a noisy environment," said Dr Lorenzo Stafford, psychologist from the University of Portsmouth, as quoted from Dailymail, Friday (16/12/2011).
The study results are published in the journal Food Quality and Preference is to have an enormous impact on people who consume alcohol in a noisy environment, so that the adverse effects of alcohol will be even greater.
In this study, Dr. Stafford included 80 people (69 women and 11 men) aged 18-28 years and is a man accustomed to consuming alcohol. Participants were asked to rate variations based on the strength of alcohol content of alcohol, sweet and bitter taste.
Unknown about 1 in 4 people have differences in determining the taste of alcohol consumed due to a disturbance assessment of the strengths of alcohol, especially when placed in a noisy environment.
Participants are exposed to loud music, consistently will assess alcohol drinks tasted sweet and less bitter than those who do not listen to loud noise.
If this happens repeatedly, then alcohol consumption will increase and could cause problems such as chronic liver disease fatty liver that affects more than 90 percent alcohol, and to develop depression.
