However, due to consumer demand for organic products is increasing, emerging threats to what people consider as an organic product.

In 2002, Swiss scientist at the Research Institute for Organic Agriculture published a study. For 21-year study comparing four types of agriculture. Two of them are organic farming, and two other types of conventional agriculture. The results obtained:

1. Conventional agriculture 20 percent more productive than organic farming.
2. Yields were significantly lower in organic farming.
3. The fact the two things above shows the energy savings on organic farming is actually only about 19 percent per unit of crop produced, not 50 percent as heralded.

"This study certainly does not conclude the organic farming is bad. The conclusion of organic farming is not much different from conventional farming. There are some other reasons for people to believe that organic farming is bad," said Timothy H. Boyer, professor of Physics Department of the City University of New York as reported by EmaxHealth.com, Tuesday (01/03/2012).

Alex Avery, Director of Research and Education Hudson Institute Center for Global Food Issues explain why the results of organic farming is low and reliance on scarce organic fertilizers are a potential threat to the wetlands of the world's forests and grasslands.

According to him, organic farming does not avoid pesticides cause about 5 percent by weight of the vegetables are natural pesticides and some of which cause cancer. And food from organic farming also contain more disease-causing bacteria.

In January 2007, the magazine 'Consumer Reports' shows the chicken from organic farms contain the bacteria Salmonella 300 percent more than conventional farming.

And research universities have also found more bacteria in vegetables from organic farming of vegetables than conventional agriculture.
