Dilantin phenytoin contain Na. Phenytoin is used to control seizures (convulsions) in the treatment of epilepsy. The drug is also used to prevent and treat seizures that occur during brain surgery. This is an anticonvulsant drug that works in the brain tissue to stop the seizures.



These drugs will prevent or greatly reduce the incidence and severity of seizures in many cases, and patients showed a slight tendency to become resistant to treatment. This drug can only be obtained by prescription.

indication

1. Effective in controlling epilepsy, tonic-clonic type especially common.
2. Effective control of psychomotor seizures.

dose

1. adult

Beginning: 100 mg 3 times daily.
Maintenance: 300-400 mg daily.
If you need to: Increase to 600 mg

2. Children above 6 years

Beginning: 100 mg 3 times daily.
The next dose should be adjusted to the therapeutic response.

3. Children under 6 years

Initial: 30 mg twice daily.
If well tolerated: can be increased to 30 mg 3 or 4 times a day.
