WOW, Probiotics Can Prevent cavities

News Health Articles - WOW, Probiotics Can Prevent cavities. Long known the benefits of this probiotic as a neutralizer mikoroorganisme in the stomach. But in fact, probiotics are often found in yogurt and dairy products are also useful to prevent cavities and gum disease. Why is that?

Researchers at the International University in Barcelona Spain managed to find the effect of probiotics on inflamed gums, bad breath and the development of the oral cavity. Probiotics show positive results, to improve oral health is best eaten alone or as part of the formula.

Probiotics are live microorganisms, similar to beneficial microorganisms found in the human gut. Probiotics are also often called 'friendly bacteria' or 'good bacteria'.

Good bacteria is essential for the immune system, to protection against microorganisms that can cause disease, and for the digestion and absorption of food and nutrition.

Probiotics are widely available in the form of supplements and foods. Probiotics can be used as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Even so the effect was found of one species or strain of probiotics do not always have the same effect for others.

"People who eat dairy probiotics for 7 months showed a decrease cavities. We have also been observed when the probiotic is given directly to the gums. It did show a decrease of gum and periodontal disease as well," said Denise Cole, a dietitian at the Cleveland Clinic as reported from FoxNewsHealth, Thursday (12/15/2011).

According probiotic milk and yogurt are good sources for daily nutritional intake. In addition, probiotics have also been available in pill form that are sold freely, making it easy to obtain.

The results of these studies have been published in the Archives of Oral Biology Journal. Probiotics may increase resistance to infectious diseases, helps balance stomach bacteria and relieve allergy symptoms.

Probiotics are not the same as prebiotics. Prebiotics are food ingredients that selectively stimulate the undigested and the growth or activity of beneficial microorganisms. When probiotics and prebiotics are mixed together, they form a synbiotic.

Most probiotic bacteria are similar to naturally occurring bacteria found in human intestines, also in breast milk. As already known, the milk has a natural protection against many diseases.

Probiotic bacteria most often derived from the two groups, Lactobacillus or Bifidobacterium. In each group, there are different species, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidus. And within each species, there are different strains or varieties.
