But in early May 2011, news emerged in Europe that the zam-zam water taken from Mecca and sold in the UK proved to contain arsenic, a deadly toxic substance. Ummah also created a scene, but fortunately it is only by case basis only.

It begins with a scene from the BBC that the research team published early May 2011 with an investigation of zam-zam water sold in Muslim bookshops in Wandsworth (south London), Upton Park (east London) as well as in Luton, Bedfordshire.

The results obtained indicate that high levels of nitrates and harmful bacteria, and the presence of arsenic at levels three times higher than the maximum allowed as zam-zam water being sold illegally in Britain.

News zam-zam water contaminated with toxins in the UK are being taken seriously by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM). Because no matter how zam-zam water is so legendary in the lives of Muslims in Indonesia. It's not legitimate home from Hajj without bringing the holy water.

Basically, zam-zam water which comes from a sacred spring around the Grand Mosque, including ground water rich in minerals. Compared to water obtained from other sources in Saudi Arabia, ground water has the highest mineral content.

A study was made by Dr. Nour Al-Zuhair and Prof. Rita Khounganian from King Saud University found that one of the advantages is the zam-zam water has mineral deposits, especially the higher fluoride. Zam-zam water taken directly from the source to have fluoride levels 0.75 ppm while that flowed through the pipe as much as 0.68 ppm.

For humans, high levels of fluoride in drinking water can be particularly beneficial for maintaining healthy teeth and mouth. Lack of fluoride can lead to tooth loss or dental caries that if worse can lead to infection of the gums.

Allegations that arises is, packaging zam-zam water that caused the holy water was contaminated.
