Description
Contains Ativan lorazepam. Lorazepam is used to treat anxiety. Class of benzodiazepines including lorazepam. Benzodiazepines include in the group of medicines called central nervous system depressant (CNS). CNS depressants are drugs that slow the nervous system. These drugs affect chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety. This drug can only be obtained by prescription.

dose
1. Usual dose:
About 2-6 mg / day given in divided doses.
Largest dose taken before bed.
The daily dose can vary from 1-10 mg / day.
2. For anxiety:
Initial dose of 2 to 3 mg / day.
3. For insomnia due to anxiety or transient situational stress:
Single dose of 2-4 mg daily, usually at bedtime.
4. For patients who are elderly or infirm:
Initial dose of 1-2 mg / day in divided doses, adjusted according to the needs and tolerance.
Ativan dosage should be increased gradually when needed to help avoid side effects. When higher dosage is indicated, the evening dose should be increased before the daytime doses.
