Stroke patients who able cross legs recover faster

Stroke patiens get a good news to get their disease gone. They could recover soon. That news is Stroke patients who able cross legs recover faster. What is relation of Stroke patients who able cross legs recover faster and stroke disease recovery?

People who had strokes it took long enough to be able to recover. But the new study found the sooner that person can cross my legs so his chances for recovery would be better.

The researchers said crossing her legs is a complex movement. If someone can do this within 2 weeks after a stroke then it bodes well that the brain is able to work or to proceed again.

"It looks simple, but very complex. It requires some effort because the feet have to bear some weight of the body and are needed for coordination," said Dr. Naveen Goyal, director of the Stroke Center at Brooklyn Hospital Center, New York City, as quoted from HealthDay, Tuesday (11/10/2011).

Crossing your legs will be a test that is easy for doctors to assess patients, is much simpler than the standard test for measuring disability. Besides this condition will help speed up the patient to appropriate treatment.

"After a severe stroke would have to get the most out of intensive rehabilitation, but when we know he could move the legs maybe we can move on to more specific training programs," said Dr. Berend Feddersen from the University of Munich in Germany.

In this study researchers recruited 34 patients who were able to cross their legs within 15 days after stroke and 34 patients who were not able to do so. All participants experienced a severe stroke and was in intensive care unit (ICU), some of which use a ventilator.

Known to people who can cross their legs have fewer neurological disorders and are able to walk independently, while those who could not cross my legs needed constant attention and the experience of disability.

The most dramatic difference seen in mortality, which is only one person from the group of breeders foot die within one year whereas those who can not cross my legs there are 18 people. The results of this study have been published on October 11, 2011 in the journal Neurology.

"Crossing your legs is a very simple test and can be done by anyone even family members can do," said Dr Goyal.
